Hi, I’m Kay Barker, and I know how hectic family life can get. Between school, sports, and everything else, finding time for piano lessons can feel impossible. But with the right approach, I promise you that music lessons can fit seamlessly into your schedule! After 20 years of teaching, I’ve found these few things can make a huge difference:

First, prioritize consistency over quantity. Even 10–15 minutes of practice a day makes a difference. And don’t worry: we’ll teach your child how to practice effectively so they get the most out of their time without feeling overwhelmed.
Second, involve your child in the process. Let them choose practice times that work for them, and make it part of their routine. When kids feel ownership over their schedule, they’re more likely to stick with it.
Third, try an Accelerated Piano Lab class. Accelerate Lab students have lots of support and more back-and-forth feedback from the teacher during Lab. AND they spend more time actually playing in class. The result? Practice becomes easy. Since students are assigned pieces to work on at home that they already worked on in the Lab, they struggle less at home, make faster progress and their confidence skyrockets!
Finally, remember that lessons are about progress, not perfection. Life happens—some weeks are busier than others, and that’s okay. Come to the lesson anyway, make a new plan, refocus, restart. And of course, our teachers are here to support your family and adjust practice plans accordingly.
Piano lessons shouldn’t add stress to your life. With a little planning and the right program, they can become one of the most rewarding parts of your week! Get started now!
