Ohio’s #1 Music Lessons Studio

Musicologie has more than 236(!) verified five-star reviews and recommendations on Google, Facebook, Yelp and more. Here are some of our favorites:

My son first took piano lessons here for one year with Eric who was awesome but now he is taking guitar with Doug who is also awesome. They get kids which is important to me because I didn't want learned music to seem too much like additional 'school' to him. They have been great in making it fun, engaging and my son is truly progressing in his musical abilities.
Our teacher is knowledgeable and enthusiastic, my children enjoy taking lessons with him.
Regan has been perfect for my daughter’s piano and voice lessons! My daughter looks forward to her lessons every week! Thank you!
Cole is the man! Been very enjoyable working with him and the rest of the musicologie staff. Very freindly, and helped my piano playing immensely.
Great lessons. Cole is a excellent teacher!

Online Classes for Infants, Toddlers and Young Children

Musicologie Junior Online is our brand new FREE on demand music education video series for infants, toddlers and their parents. Ms Kay will take you on a musical journey exploring a rhythm and melody of the week with solfege and music sign language, an instrument of the week, musical story time and a dance pary!

Musicologie Junior is a precursor to private lessons, introducing basic concepts early to give kids a head start, while reinforcing your relationship with your child through music.

Don’t Make These 3 New Year’s Resolution Mistakes

January 2, 2021

It's finally 2021! What are your new year's resolutions? Every year, millions of people resolve to lose weight, save more, drink less, or learn an instrument (we can help you with that!). If you're like me, it'll be a win just to get through the year without having an existential crisis every week. But did you know a third of resolutions don't even make it through January? I know people who have totally given up on resolutions entirely because they think they'll inevitably fail, so why try? But resolutions don't have to fail. Many people succeed in changing their lives, ... read more

We Invented a Holiday: Free Lessons Week

February 17, 2020

Last fall we had a weekly Musicologie meeting that went something like this: "Hey I have an idea. What if we have a week where we offer free lessons for absolutely everyone?" "That's crazy" "How much will it cost?" "Will people care?" "Can our scheduling software even do that?" "Why?" Well, it's happening, and we're calling it Free Lessons Week. We're offering free one-on-one lessons to absolutely anyone. Just download our app, click the free lessons tab and book. We didn't answer all the questions we had at that first meeting, but we did answer the why: We believe music ... read more

Meet the Founders

Musicologie was started in 2014 by musicians and teachers Kay and Joseph Barker. They’ve performed all over the country with their band, Bella Ruse and written music for TV shows and commercials. Their mission is to create inclusive communities of explorers and empower teachers to build sustainable careers. Read about how the Musicologie mission informs our decisions, and about our Community Manager program which enables teachers to become a co-owner at their own Musicologie.

Musicologie now has more than 60 highly qualified, expert teachers, and five beautiful private lesson studios.

Our Philosophy

You’re different. You have your own goals, abilities and musical tastes. We create an individualized experience that’s comfortable and positive, making sure that every lesson is both fun and challenging.

We also know that learning an instrument is hard work. We’re here to develop your skills and passion at the same time and will fight through the challenges with you! We’re more than teachers: we’re friends and role models too.
