Hi, I’m Kay Barker, and I know starting something new can feel like a big step—especially when it involves your little one. If you’re curious about what to expect at your toddler’s first Musicologie Junior class, let me give you a quick preview.

From the moment you arrive, you’ll feel the warm, welcoming energy that makes our classes special. The room is full of colorful instruments and props, and our friendly teachers are ready to meet your child where they are. We begin with a cheerful hello song to help everyone settle in and feel part of the group.
Music is awesome, but transitions can be tricky, especially in those first few classes. Your child might want to hold onto an instrument they’re really enjoying, and that’s okay! Our teachers know how to spark curiosity with something fresh and exciting. Chances are, your child will be ready to join in when it’s time to explore the next thing.
Let’s say yes to music! Exploration is how toddlers learn, so it’s perfectly fine if your child tries something different from what the teacher is demonstrating—or even wanders off to check out other parts of the room. As long as they’re safe, it’s all fair game. This freedom helps kids build confidence, curiosity, and their own connection to music.
Whether they’re clapping along, stomping their feet, watching from your lap, or even tasting the texture of a shaker (it happens!), every form of participation is valuable. Our goal is to celebrate all the ways your child engages with music, helping them feel successful and supported in the process.
Musicologie Junior classes are about more than music—they’re about building a love for learning, encouraging a sense of exploration, and making lasting memories with your child. Try a free first class today!
