Musicologie Certified: Level M1
Tatum Hodgson has been teaching private cello lessons since 2018 with a focus on excellence and fun. She is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music studying with Dr. Melissa Kraut. She held principal cello position in the Claremont Young Musicians Orchestra (CYMO) for two years and played for American Youth Symphony, a professional Orchestra based at UCLA. She has won first place in competitions such as ASTA solo recital competition, MTAC’s VOCE competition, and Satori Strings Competition, among others. She has received scholarships to attend music festivals and programs across the United States and abroad.
Tatum has had extensive training in cello pedagogy with Tanya Carey and Carey Beth Hocket. Her training is registered through unit seven with the Suzuki Association of the Americas. In addition to her experience teaching beginner and intermediate players of all ages, her musical experience expands into orchestral and chamber music coaching, as well as tutoring in music theory. She is excited to share her love for learning, following Suzuki’s philosophy that every child can learn at a high ability given excellent training. She is dedicated to life-long professional development in her performance career as well as teaching methods, so that she can provide the highest-level training to her students.
