Musicologie Certified: Level M1
Sean Nicely is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Minor in Music. Sean began playing guitar at 13 years old, after the game “Guitar Hero” became too easy. He immediately began taking lessons and learning from other guitar players and teachers. At Ohio State, Sean was accepted into the University’s jazz guitar program and made the decision to minor in music. During his time at Ohio State, Sean also served as an undergraduate teaching assistant for beginner guitar students. Now, he enjoys working and experimenting with progressive metal and jazz fusion. He says that if something has frets, he can play it! This includes teaching bass and ukulele.
After college, Sean worked on the new challenge of playing drums. With lots of lessons and work, he is now able to play and teach rock, blues, pop, and hip hop styles.
As a teacher, Sean loves seeing students fall in love with music just as he did. While seeing a student’s progress is extremely rewarding, Sean believes in patience, expression, and sharing the joy that music can bring.
Forever a student of music, Sean is hoping to continue to add to his musical repertoire in the future with piano and violin!
