Musicologie Certified: Level M1
Katie is a newcomer to the Cleveland area, having recently moved here from Denton, Texas. With a concentration in flute and woodwind pedagogy, Katie graduated from the University of North Texas in 2019 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. She has spent the past few years teaching full-time in the public schools, where she has taught instrumental band and elementary music classes in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to students from ages 4 to 18.
Her top priority when teaching students is helping them develop the skills to allow them to find their artistic and creative voice, and to help them find what they enjoy performing. After all, music is all about joy and self-expression!
Although her main passion is teaching, Katie is also an active performer in classical, chamber music, and wind band settings. She is a new member of the University Heights Symphonic Band where she regularly performs on piccolo and flute, as well as a member of the Greater Cleveland Flute Society. When not involved with music, Katie enjoys spending time with her two cats and two dogs, cooking new dishes, and enjoying the great outdoors.
