Devon Buchanan has always had a passion for music and the way in which it brings people together. Beginning on Guitar at the age of 5, music has always been a part of Devon’s life. Later expanding to Bass, Ukulele, Mandolin, Piano, Trombone, and Tuba, Devon has always advocated for a multi-instrumentalist approach to music for the expanded perspective and understanding that it provides. Although nowadays Devon’s main musical focus is Bass Guitar, he continues to hone his skills across the entire array of instruments that he plays.
Devon was deeply involved in the Ohio State University’s Jazz Department as a bassist for his entire college career, as well as participated in Hokkaido University’s Jazz Club during his time there. Devon has been playing music in professional groups for over 5 years, mostly in the Central Ohio area, and remains actively involved in the Columbus, Ohio music scene. The genres of music Devon has experience playing include Latin Jazz, Swing, Blues, Rock ‘n’ Roll, Alternative Rock, Prog Rock, Hip-hop, Soul, R&B, Jazz Fusion, and more!
Devon believes that absolutely everybody can be a musician, and has always been a proponent for music education for all. No matter your musical background or experience, Devon would love the opportunity to share in and support the transformative power of your journey as a musician.
