Musicologie Certified: Level M1
Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Celia grew up in a musical family, and attended Ohio University, graduating with a Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy – major instrument: harp. At that time Music Therapy was new, and jobs had to be created. After working in two positions over two years, Celia took employment in offices, teaching music on the side, and playing in local orchestras and for private events. She lived in Michigan, Missouri, California, Maryland, Massachusetts, and New York before settling down in Athens, Ohio to raise a family. Celia and her husband provided music entertainment from the time before they married until he became too ill to perform, in 2019.
At the age of 50 Celia was offered her first full-time position requiring her Music Therapy degree! She worked with geriatric patients in an acute care behavioral psychiatric setting. After some years, Celia switched to several concurrent part time positions, providing music therapy to cancer patients in treatment centers, nursing home residents, adult psychiatric, and hospice patients, while continuing to teach private music lessons and perform. Celia continues to provide music entertainment and therapy at times, in a variety of private settings for organizations and for several annual events.
