Kyle Tucker



Kyle spent his college career at the esteemed Tri-C Jazz Studies

program in Cleveland as well as the Ohio State University for guitar

performance. He attended on scholarship through both programs and

maintained a 4.0 GPA.


During his time in college he studied with notable performers and

educators such as Stan Smith (Capital University), Vera Stanojevic

(Capital University for composition), Tim Cummiskey (OSU), Jacob Sacks

(New York City), Dan Wilson (Tri-C/Cleveland State) and jazz saxophone

legend Ernie Krivda (Tri-C, Cleveland). Though much of his education

was based in jazz guitar, Kyle has also studied classical guitar,

piano, composition, and voice.


Kyle has many years of experience performing as a solo artist and

leading bands around Columbus and Cleveland. His writing outlet and

indie-folk band Oliver Oak is a six piece, regularly performing

ensemble of established musicians. Oliver Oak has recorded three

albums since May 2013 (two of which were produced, recorded, and

mastered by Kyle) and is preparing for a national spring tour in 2015

following their recently released full-length record. In addition to

Oliver Oak, Kyle leads a working group under his own name which

includes his Chet Baker Songbook and has performed with many other

jazz and pop ensembles including Vaughn Wiester’s Famous Jazz



Kyle began teaching guitar in college and his experience spans the

last five years. He is a motivated educator and is excited to be among

such reputable peers at Musicologie.
