Musicologie Lewis Center Music Lessons Music Lessons in Lewis Center, Ohio
Private music lessons are hands down one of the best ways to learn an instrument and we offer them online and in-person. If you’re passionate and have a little bit of elbow grease, you’ll be playing or singing your favorite music in no time. Sign up for a first lesson or read on to learn more about lessons work at Musicologie.
How Our Music Lessons Work
At our Anderson studio, lessons are weekly one-on-one sessions with a teacher specifically matched to you or your child based on your experience and goals. We offer both live online lessons and in-person lessons at our studios. Our teachers are experts at introducing young students to music, helping middle and high school students succeed in juries and competitions, or even helping professionals hone their craft.
When you sign up, you'll purchase a lesson membership, which is a flat fee billed on the 1st of each month. We recommend 30-minute weekly private lessons for young beginners and hourly long weekly lessons for advanced players and adults. The lesson membership includes:
- A weekly lesson time - in person or online - reserved with an expert teacher
- Unlimited rescheduling with 24 hours notice - made easy through your online account
- At least two concerts annually and other cool performance opportunities

We're here to help! We want you to be completely comfortable with Musicologie and our programs before you sign up for a membership.
The first step is to introduce yourself and help us get to know you. You can do that by filling out our get started form. We'll talk briefly about what you want to achieve and then we'll schedule a 30 minute assessment lesson. At the assessment, you’ll meet your teacher, who will go over your goals and develop a personal curriculum for you. We know that your relationship with your teacher is the most important thing about lessons and we work hard to make sure it's right from the beginning. After the assessment, you'll sign up for ongoing weekly lessons. Most are 30 minutes, but some students do 45 minute or hour long lessons. All ongoing lessons are reserved for you on the same day and time each week with the same teacher. You'll also be able to attend optional group classes, performances and open practice.

Frequently Asked Questions

At Musicologie Lewis Center, we understand you may have questions! We want you to have total confidence that Musicologie is the right place for you or your child to start, or continue your musical journey. So we've collected the most frequently asked questions about our music lessons, our programs, and what it's like learning music at Musicologie.
The Musicologie Method™ is rooted in two things: a safe environment, and education through play. Research tells us these two elements are key components of the way everyone learns, from kids through adults.
In music lessons, a safe environment means a place where you feel free to be who you are, encouraged to play the music you enjoy, and excited to try new things. Education through play means having fun playing your instrument! That's why it's called playing music! We use games and strategies to help our music students make serious progress while enjoying the process.
We know that you'll stay more engaged by learning music you love and you'll grow faster by using what you've learned in your lessons in performances. We'll take our own Musicologie Method, along with traditional method books like Suzuki, Alfred's, Faber, etc., and combine that with contemporary music you're excited about with the goal of performing in one of our ensembles, group classes, or at one of our concerts.
We teach all ages. Many of our students are between the ages of 5 and 12, but we teach toddlers and we teach many adults, too! Our toddler music class is called Musicologie Junior and starts at 6 months. Private lessons start at 5. We also have a rock band class called Rockstars where students ages 7+ learn to be rock stars and play at local venues!
We also have member workshops, open mics, and concerts for all our students, including adults! At Musicologie Lewis Center, not only can you learn an instrument from an amazing, friendly, certified teacher, but you can meet other musicians and join a community of music explorers!
Not for your first lesson. We have instruments at our studios you can use for the first few lessons. But after that you'll want to get your own instrument for practice at home. Your teacher will help you pick out the right one. We also have open practice hours so you can come in and use instruments and practice rooms at Musicologie during the week.
If you do have your own instrument, you should definitely bring it with you, as long as it's easily portable - leave your piano and drums at home
Get started here by answering a few questions. We'll match you with a teacher and find a time that works for ongoing lessons. The first lesson is called an assessment lesson.
An assessment lesson is what we call your first lesson. Don't worry, it's not a test! You'll come in, meet your teacher, talk about your goals, go through our policies and develop an individual curriculum. Every student does it regardless of age or ability. For very young students, an assessment is also a chance to see if they're ready for private lessons.
A Lesson Membership is how you sign up for ongoing lessons, classes or programs at Musicologie. It is a flat fee billed monthly. With a Lesson Membership you get:
- A weekly lesson or class scheduled at the same day and time with the same teacher - 30, 45 or 60 minutes long, depending on the program
- Unlimited rescheduling with 24 hour cancellation notice
- Member Events and Concerts
Sure, we offer drop-in lessons for students who can't commit to a weekly lesson.

Managing your lessons and classes online is easy!
Of course! Here's how it works:
- Log into your account at Musicologie.com
- Find the lesson you want to change and select 'cancel' or 'reschedule' at least 24 hours before the lesson. Musicologie Junior and Accelerated Labs can be canceled or rescheduled up to 30 minutes before the class.

- If you withdraw from lessons, you can no longer reschedule any lessons you cancelled.
