Ohio’s #1 Music Lessons Studio

Musicologie has more than 236(!) verified five-star reviews and recommendations on Google, Facebook, Yelp and more. Here are some of our favorites:

Highly recommend the lessons here! Fantastic staff, very knowledgeable and friendly.
We love it here! Easy going, child focused, musical and artistic talent celebrated and nurtured at all levels.
I do piano lessons with Mrs Lauren. She makes me want to play piano and when I mess up she helps me figure it out. She is a nice and funny person and someone people want to be around. She is the reason I am still playing. I like how the studio is always clean, quiet, and the customer service is great. My parents agree she is the best piano teacher they have seen
My 5 year old looks forward to coming weekly. He enjoys his instructor Mr Patrick. He is able to keep him engaged and eager to learn about the piano. My son has learned so much in a short period of time and constantly developing his gift. Thanks Musicologie
I LOVE all the different lessons they offer. And that as a regular piano student, you can substitute for lessons of a different instrument or voice. It’s nice to be able to experiment with something new to expand our horizons!

Dublin Student Feature: Introducing Everett, Master of the Keys!

September 16, 2020

This week, we're featuring one of our youngest students at Musicologie Dublin: the fabulous Everett, who is four years old! Everett started his journey at Musicologie with Miss Kay Barker in our Musicologie Junior class for toddlers and their adults. It was here that he started to develop an interest in the accordion! Now in weekly private lessons, Everett is learning his way around the piano, the accordion, and even the organ. If it has keys, this young man can figure it out! Everett's mom Kristy had the following to say about their lesson experience so far: "We began classes ... read more

April 3, 2020

This past week we had our first two virtual Musicologie Junior classes and they were so. much. fun! It's very similar to our usual classes, with dancing, singing, reading music books and as much interaction as possible! All you have to do is register here (For FREE by the way) and your little one can sign and dance along with me during our live virtual class every Monday and Thursday at 9:30am. I do need to apologize to some people who on Thursday tried to use our old public Zoom link to sign up and couldn't join. I'm so sorry! ... read more

Musicologie Switches to Video Lessons

March 15, 2020

Today we are making the decision to temporarily change how we offer lessons. We think it’s important that we do our part to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, so we are moving exclusively to video lessons. Lessons will no longer be at our studios. Instead, all lessons will be held via Zoom video call. Students should follow these steps to get ready >> We’re making this change because we think it’s the best way to responsibly continue our students' music education. We are positive that lessons can continue to be a fun, exciting experience in this new format. We hope ... read more

What’s In A Space: The Importance of Where We Create

August 10, 2020

Anyone who has stepped into my room at the Lewis Center studio (or room 4 at the Grandview studio prior to my embarking on co-ownership of a studio) knows instantly the emphasis that I place on having a space that feels like art is meant to be created inside of it. From gifts that students have given me over the years, to my own original artwork, photos of myself with colleagues and friends, plants, awards and diplomas, and a color scheme that ignites my creativity and helps prepare me for the work I get to do on a daily basis, ... read more

Meet the Founders

Musicologie was started in 2014 by musicians and teachers Kay and Joseph Barker. They’ve performed all over the country with their band, Bella Ruse and written music for TV shows and commercials. Their mission is to create inclusive communities of explorers and empower teachers to build sustainable careers. Read about how the Musicologie mission informs our decisions, and about our Community Manager program which enables teachers to become a co-owner at their own Musicologie.

Musicologie now has more than 80 highly qualified, certified teachers, and six beautiful private lesson studios.

Our Philosophy

You’re different. You have your own goals, abilities and musical tastes. We create an individualized experience that’s comfortable and positive, making sure that every lesson is both fun and challenging.

We also know that learning an instrument is hard work. We’re here to develop your skills and passion at the same time and will fight through the challenges with you! We’re more than teachers: we’re friends and role models too.
